National Recycling Week is the perfect time to look at your organisation's recycling and sustainability programs. Supporting the environment is of course the priority, however, according to Planet Ark, research shows that it is also good for staff morale, with 3 in 4 employees stating it makes them feel better about their employer. Aside from reminding staff about your existing recycling systems, try something new this year! Your company could host a Mobile Muster throughout the week with daily reminders to encourage employees to bring their old mobiles in to be recycled, which saves them from landfill. Another fun activity that offers something for everyone, is running a swap party. Encourage all employees to bring in items they no longer want, like books, DVDs, CDs, clothes, toys and more, and exchange them for something they like. It can take place at lunchtime or an afternoon tea, to make it a fun and interactive event.
